Recovery Plans

A recovery plan makes sure the right people can access your crypto when they need to — if you die, lose access, or are incapacitated — without Bitzo ever holding your keys.

How recovery works

1. Your family or executor contacts Bitzo. The Policy Pack tells them exactly who to contact and how.
2. A UK-based specialist verifies their identity and legal authority through recorded calls, rotating codes, and cross-referencing against the Policy Pack and legal documents.
3. Once verified, they are guided through the documented steps to recover the assets, using the keys and backups that remain in the client's control.
4. Every step is logged to a full audit trail for probate.

Non-custodial by design

Bitzo coordinates people and process; it never holds private keys, seed phrases, or funds. An optional on-chain timelocked recovery path can be enforced by the Bitcoin network itself, so it works whether or not Bitzo exists.
