Provider due diligence

For advisers and firms carrying out due diligence on providers they introduce clients to. This summarises who Bitzo is, our regulatory position, and how we handle data. For anything not covered, email support@bitzo.net.

Legal entity and ownership

  • Trading name: Bitzo.
  • Legal entity: Raplin Ventures Ltd, registered in England and Wales.
  • Company number: 17276917 (incorporated 17 June 2026).
  • Registered office: 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ.
  • Founder and director: Simon Bumford.

What Bitzo does and does not do

Bitzo provides operational coordination, identity verification, and documentation for crypto security and inheritance planning. Bitzo does not hold, store, or request private keys, seed phrases, or client funds; does not exchange or custody cryptoassets; and does not provide financial, investment, legal, or tax advice. Clients retain control of their own keys throughout.

Regulatory position

Bitzo is not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Its services are not regulated activities and are not a financial promotion of an investment; FSCS and the Financial Ombudsman Service do not apply. Bitzo does not exchange cryptoassets or provide custodian wallet services, so it does not carry on the cryptoasset activities that require FCA registration under the Money Laundering Regulations, and monitors the evolving UK cryptoasset regime. Partner firms are verified against Companies House and the FCA Register where applicable; individuals in a recovery are verified through recorded calls, rotating codes, and cross-referencing against the Policy Pack, with a full audit trail.

Data protection

Bitzo processes personal data as a controller under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. Where a professional refers a client, the referring firm and Bitzo each act as independent controllers. Key sub-processors: Stripe (payments), Brevo (email), Google (optional client sign-in), Cloudflare (DNS), and UK-based server infrastructure (hosting and the client database). See the Privacy Policy; data-protection queries: privacy@bitzo.net.

Continuity

Recovery does not depend on Bitzo continuing to exist. The client and their nominated contacts hold a standalone, exportable Policy Pack; Sealed Continuity Packs are held independently by the client's solicitor or executor; and the optional on-chain timelocked recovery path is enforced by the Bitcoin network whether or not Bitzo exists. See Compare and Pricing.
